Suburb Profile - Palm Beach - The Queensland Edition

When people think of Palm beach, most often they think of the suburb in Sydney, where Home and Away is filmed, one of Australia’s most popular soaps. But Queensland is home to its own Palm Beach, being a popular suburb on the Southern Gold Coast. The suburb lies nestled between Tallebudgera Creek and Currumbin Creek.

Palm Beach is known for its sandy white shores and crystal-clear blue waters and is a popular surfing spot, and it has been named as Queensland’s cleanest beach thrice. It’s streets are laid out in numbered avenues, and are a mix of low rise housing, including the quintessential beach shack, and high rise units.

Recent data shows the suburb has a population of 16,349, including 4,266 families, with excellent growth rates, as more people move to the popular beachside suburb. Palm Beach is popular with property investors and has an excellent rental yield and low vacancy rates. The beachside lifestyle of this Southern Gold Coast suburbs attracts a young demographic.

There are plenty of activities in Palm Beach, home to some popular surf breaks, or Tallebudgera Creek for those wanting calmer waters. It’s also well connected to the popular surfing spots of Coolangatta, Kirra and Burleigh.

Palm beach has a range parks and reserves to check out some of the local wildlife. Tarrabora Reserve is a parkland located on Currumbin Creek, known as a great spot for picnics and coming across a range of different bird and reptile species. It offers swimming and walking tracks through out. There are plenty of parks for the kids to run around with Palm Beach Parklands and Laguna Park.

There plenty of cafes and restaurants to visit at Palm Beach, from Palm Beach Surf Club for a good pub meal, to The Collective, home to a range of food choices from Latin American, Asian, Italian to classic American cuisine. For breakfast or brunch head to Barefoot Barista, Sisterhood Coffee or Custard Canteen.

The local schools provide parents with the option of a private school or a public school. Schools such as Palm Beach Currumbin State High School, Elanora State school, Elanora State High school or Robina State High School are close by, while private options include Varsity Lakes College, All Saints Anglican school, Marymount College and Hillcrest Christian College.

Close by is Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, one of the Gold Coast’s most popular wildlife parks, home to a variety of native animals, including kangaroos, emus and the Tasmanian Devil, not to mention it’s famous lorikeets which flock to the park at feeding time.
