Gold Coast Suburb Profile – Runaway Bay:

A world away from the bright lights, dizzying heights and flocks of tourists lies the quiet suburb of Runaway Bay, offering all the best the Gold Coast has to offer, without the crowds. With the Broadwater lapping at its shores, Runaway Bay is a boaties heaven, offering direct Broadwater access, as well as large open spaces, internationally recognised sporting venues and a large, local shopping centre.

With its twisted maze of canals and shores that lap the Broadwater, Runaway Bay could be considered the Gold Coast’s version of Venice.

The Runaway Bay Sports Super Centre is a world class sporting venue and a popular training ground for athletes, both local and international. The Centre offers a fully equipped gym, Olympic size competition swimming pool, a variety of playing fields and a running track, as well as a day spa for relaxing after a hectic workout, along with specialist medical professionals to treat any sporting injuries.

Nearby is the Pro-One Tennis Academy, which offers tennis courts for hire, local social competitions and also an elite training programme for up and coming stars of the future. Just down the road also lies the Runaway Bay Indoor Sports Complex and also the Northern Gold Coast Netball Association, a full size cricket pitch with matching white timber picket fence and a large soccer club. Runaway Bay is host to some of the Gold Coast’s best sporting facilities and will play a key role in the upcoming Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games.

The hub of Runaway Bay is the Runaway Bay Shopping Village, a bustling local shopping centre home to over 110 speciality stores, including a Woolworths, Coles, Big W and Target. The centre features a large light filled food court with outdoor dining area facing onto one of the suburbs many canals. This busy shopping centre has all the amenities a local shopping centre requires and plenty of shopping options to suit everyone, from fashion to electronics and beauty.

Runaway Bay is also home to the exclusive St Francis Xavier Catholic Primary School, a private school opened in 1975 that caters for all primary school aged children from Prep to Year 6 and currently has over 600 students.

Notable residential developments at Runaway Bay include Allisee, which is a gated complex of apartments and townhouses with a private marina and large recreational centre that features a gym, several pools, a tennis court and a sauna and steam room. Another large development is the Bayview Towers complex, which houses a collection of high rise apartments sitting directly on the shore of the Broadwater. Bayview Towers is also home to Bayview Harbour; a large marina offering boat owners direct access to the Broadwater and beyond.

Also located at Runaway Bay on the site of the former caravan park is Harmony Broadwater, a complex of seven medium rise apartments with a feng shui design. The complex features 3 acres of tropical gardens with an 18 metre infinity pool, spa, gym and BBQ area.

The suburb also has a fully functioning marine shipyard and marina; ‘Runaway Bay Marina’. The marina features both dry dock and berthing facilities, a marine fuel facility, maintenance and construction facilities and a boat ramp, as well as a large commercial centre featuring restaurants, offices, professional services and health and beauty retail outlets.

The suburb has plenty of residential properties available, from large mansions, to family homes, to modern apartments and townhouses. Many of the properties in the suburb have direct canal access with space to house a boat at your own private pontoon.

Runaway Bay has plenty of natural parkland, much of which is directly on the shores of the Broadwater, making it the perfect suburb to raise a family in and take advantage of the outdoor, water frontage environment that the Gold Coast is famous for.
